Voyatzis Winery

A modern 3-hectare vineyard was established close to the lake, in the position of an old vine of Voyatzis family. Designed to produce high-quality wines of a distinctive character, it was planted with local and other varieties during 1991-1994. Voyatzis family has a long tradition in wine commerce, recorded since the early 20th century, when large quantities of wine from Velvendo were transported for sale at the, developing, by then, town of Katerini, where the family settled, running a wine-ouzo shop until 1922. Yannis, oenologist graduated from the University of Bordeaux along with his brother, Nikos, who is an engineer, and their father, Harissis, decided to return to Velvendo and establish a new, privately owned vineyard.
