Ktima Palivou
The old farm and the vines surrounding it betray the existence of a long tradition in winemaking, athough no one in the family is aware of the exact time that the first vine was planted. But, we can tell for sure that viticulture continues unstoppably for 3,500 years. Since 1995, when the old, traditional winery was replaced by a new, modern one, Palivos Estate entered the world of Greek wine, dynamically. The Estate owns one of the most expanded vineyards in the zone of PDO Nemea which is widely known for the cultivation of the red variety, Agiorgitiko. In the 300 acre vineyards are grown the varieties: Agiorgitiko, Roditis, Malagouzia, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. They extend over several places in Ancient Nemea and the most privileged of all is situated at an altitude of 420 meters. In the lowlands, the northern winds, especially during the Summer, favour the maintainance of hygiene and good maturation of grapes.
