Theopetra Estate
The Tsililis family felt the need to rejuvenate the vineyard in Meteora, which was destroyed by a phylloxera epidemic. Thus, in 1995, the Theopetra Estate vineyard located on the slopes around the prehistorical cave of the same name was planted for the first time and gradually expanded, reaching today over 100 acres of privately owned land. Ancient finds in the cave including grape seeds suggest that, in the past, there was a connection of the area with grape growing, distillates and wines. Moreover, for centuries now, the monks of the sacred Monasteries of Meteora make wine. The soil which is of rare composition along with the excellent microclimate of the region contribute to the excellent quality of wines produced in Meteora. The Tsililis family have established a winery model of high quality requirements where the settlements of new technology meet and bind harmoniously with the natural traits of this region.
