Garakis family are first and foremost winegrowers, 24 years ago in the heart of the PDO PEZA wine zone, in the village of Kounavoi, Manolis Garakis started the family's traditional distillery. In 2021, the family winery is created after twenty years of experimenting with various vinifications. 2022 was a landmark year as they bottled their first bottles.

For the making of Lagkada a pre-fermentation cryo-extraction of 24 hours follows and then a controlled fermentation temperature for 15 days in order to bring out the rich aromatic character of the variety.
