Zafeirakis - Domaine
Christos Zafeirakis after having studied oenology and gained experience in wine making, worked for several wineries in Italy, where he also took his masters degree and then he came back with the purpose to produce wines from organicall cultivated vines. For more than four generations now, Zafeirakis family works systematically on winery and vine cultivation, while in the last ten years new kinds of grapes such as Syrah, Merlot, Sangiovese Chardonnay were planted. Considerable effort was taken to the revival of local varieties in the last 5 years. One of these varieties is Limniona, whose wine was released in November 2008. The Estate is situated in Palaiomylos, in Tyrnavos. The soil is classified as loamy with a strong presence of flint. The low yield crops in combination with the high number of planted vines per acre (550-600) give a notable result.
