Sklavou - Estate

Sklavos winery is located in Lixouri, Kefalonia and is specialized in the cultivation of local varieties and the production of whimsical blends. The family first vineyard was planted in 1919. In 1986, they proceeded to organic cultivation of the land and ten years later, they started applying the biodynamic management practices to some part of the vineyards. The distinctive, prototype wines of the Estate are subject to vinification practices including the use of natural yeasts, without the addition of sulphite and filtration and are organic certified.

The whole concept of the winery is based on a non-stress treatment of grapes in order to achieve the best quality. Moreover, they prefer growing indigenous varieties which are being well adapted to the territoire of the region. Mavrodaphne and Vostilidi varieties constitute the best choice given the fact that Robola is not being cultivated in the region where are planted their vineyards.
