Canava Chrissou – Tselepos Nikteri 2020

Canava Chrissou – Tselepos Nikteri 2020
Canava Chrissou – Tselepos Nikteri 2020

Nikteri (along with Vinsanto) is the most traditional Santorini-style wine in production. The word in Greek means nightwork and in this case it has two meanings. One talks about harvesting before sunrise (during the night) and the other is about grapes being pressed on the same night of the harvest. Whatever the truth, Nikteri is coming back with more producers supporting it (Silver, Tselepos).

  • The Tselepos-Chrissos release is the definition of style, exuberant and expressive both aromaticly and in the mouth.
  • It matures in large barrels for 6 months, acquiring a creamy texture and dry caramel aromas. The characteristic high acidity and minerality of the variety balance the high fruit ripeness.
  • A great wine that is also uniquely gastronomic. Pair it with dishes of a similarly intense personality, such as a mushroom risotto or a lamb in the oven, which is the ultimate umami experience.
