El Enemigo Wines Chardonnay 2019
Adrianna, the youngest daughter of Nicolás Catena Zapata, has lived and breathed wine since childhood. Alejandro Vigil has been head winemaker of Bodega Catena Zapata since 2002, receiving the first 100-point rating awarded to a South American wine by Robert Parker. Two romantic winemakers create El Enemigo (the enemy), a name inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy. "At the end of the journey we remember only one battle. The one we fought against ourselves, the one that defines us.".
In El Enemigo Chardonnay fermentation takes place in French barrels of 500 liters for 12 months (35% new) with indigenous yeasts, maximum temperature 18º C for 40 days. The wine remains under a cracked layer of flor for 10 months and the lees are not stirred.
In the glass we have a pale golden color. On the nose we find complex aromas of citrus, tropical fruits that are wonderfully complemented by herbs, yeast and notes of nuts to complete its character. On the palate it is full-bodied, with high acidity, with a remarkable taste balance and a long aftertaste.
