Vlachiko Wines
Color: Red
Types of wines: Red, Rose, Semi-Sparkling
Categories: PGI
Description: The northern Greek variety Vlachiko is based in the region of Ioannina, and the wider region of Epirus. It gives elegant and stylish wines, which typically are aged in barrel. Ruby, medium density colour. Fruity, with plenty of spices and aromatic herbs on the nose. Light mouth sense, with high acidity, delightful and very charming, so that in the last years considerable efforts are being made to single variety winemaking. In the past the Vlachiko was vinified along with the Mpekiari, another local variety, which gave to the wine the characters, which the Vlachiko is missing: intense color, alcohol and rich tannins.
Typical wine characteristics: Complex, with good acidity
