Monemvasia Wines
Color: White, Red
Types of wines: White, Dessert
Categories: PDO Paros
Description: It is the only white variety that is used in the production of red PDO wine, specifically PDO Paros, in mating with the Mandilaria variety. Although its origin is from the synonymous region of the Peloponnese region, Monemvasia variety is grown mainly in the island of Paros and in other islands of the Cyclades like Syros and Mykonos, and partly also in Evia. The wines produced from this variety tend to oxidize easily, are relatively high in alcohol degrees, with good body and acidity. Aromatic-wise, it is a variety with moderate aromatic intensity, since it mainly gives 'serious' wines, with nuances of lemon, fresh white-flesh fruits and sometimes aromatic herbs, sometimes spicy and muscat aftertaste.
Typical wine characteristics: Fruity and refreshing
