Dalmore King Alexander III
The Dalmore Distillery has been producing exceptional single malt whisky since 1839. Dalmore King Alexander III is based on a selected a range of differently aged malts matured in a mixure of French wine casks, Madeira drums, sherry butts, Marsala barrels, port pipes and bourbon barrels from Kentucky as selected by Master Distiller Richard Paterson. It has reddish-brown, deep amber with bright copper color. It has lightly floral nose and surprisingly restrained and somewhat buttery and nutty, with subtle fruit notes. Lemon, cinnamon, and toffee are also there. Sweet and bitter mouthfeel in relatively equal measure. Bitter raisin in the initial tasting. Toffee sweetness, tart cherry, blueberry preserves, bittersweet chocolate, salted almond butter, marmalade, baked clove, overripe raspberries come after. Exceptionally long yet quite gentle finish, glowing in the rear of the mouth and back of the throat. Spice showing up very late in the finish leaving notes of dark chocolate cake and raspberry ganache.
