Imathia Wines

In the area of Imathia, in central Macedonia, the wine interest is monopolized by the P.D.O. (Protected Designation of Origin) wines of Naoussa and the red variety Xinomavro, which has the lead. However, although the vast majority of wine production is centered on the region of Naoussa, the entire Imathia is a vieyard with significant diversity of terroirs. Roditis and Preknadi are still some of the most common varieties grown both in Veria and in the wider region of Imathia, while in recent years there have been several other plantings, including mainly red varieties such as Merlot and Syrah.
