Drama
In ancient times Drama was one of the most important centers of Dionysian worship and had the name "Idonida Earth." Not accidentally, there is a wine tradition in the region since its geographical position and climate of the valley surrounded by mountains and Paggaio and Baldy, offers ideal conditions for growing vines and producing wines of the highest quality. The varieties planted and cultivated at this time in the area, not a few, show that Drama is a gifted area of interest, individual microclimates, able to show foreign varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Tempranillo, Sangiovese, Grenache, Trebbiano, Chardonnay, Semillon, Ugni Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and many local varieties such Roditi, Assyrtiko, Limnio, Athiri. The decree of 1991 consolidated the production of local wines Drama, and shortly afterwards followed the Adriani and Local Wine Market. Now the area of Drama, spread with some of the finest wineries in Greece, is constantly winning international awards for the quality of its wines.
