Dougos Winery Meth Imon L 2022
The area: From a 0.35 hectare single parcel in the Prosilia, Rapsani vineyard, where ''7'' and ''Opsimo (Late Harvest)'' are produced. Mainly schist soils that provide fine texture and structure to the wine. The altitude is 650 meters, which allows for slow maturation and excellent maturity of the tannins. The vineyards are approaching 30 years of age, having been planted in 1991.
The variety and the wine: 100% Limniona, a rare but upcoming Greek variety that has been associated with fine and silky wines that resemble of Pinot Noir. The producer uses a special method of production (20% fermentation with whole bunches), which gives aromatic lift and a peppery texture to the wine. In addition, for the fruit to shine, only old oak is used (330 lts oak, 7 years old). The result is pure, fascinating and layered.
- Extremely aromatic with cherries, violet nuances and spices in the nose, along earthy notes. Very pure.
- Silky like a hug on the palate, 13% alcohol and wonderful balance.
- A delectable wine
How to enjoy it: From now on and for the next five years. Versatile. Delicious with mature cheeses, poultry (chicken in the oven or even duck) but also with fatty fish, such as salmon or black grouper. Perfect also with pork and mushrooms.
